Mexico is a country known for its great diversity in every aspect, from natural beauty, culture, gastronomy, architecture, and history. Some towns have stood out for having several of these elements, which make them stand out among the rest.

That is why the government, together with the Secretariat of Tourism, created the Magical Towns program, which aims to showcase the unique identity of these towns.

Below we mention some of the magical towns you cannot miss on your next visit to Mexico.

5. Taxco de Alarcón

Located in the state of Guerrero, it is famous for its production and sale of silver jewelry, as well as its characteristic colonial architecture.

During your visit to this beautiful town, you can see the Church of Santa Prisca and San Sebastián; it has a churrigueresque baroque style, its dome is made of Talavera tiles, but without a doubt, its silver virgin is the cherry on top.

Another must-see is the monumental Christ on Atachi hill, with a height of 20 meters, featuring a viewpoint from where you can admire the beauty of the town from above 

A hidden paradise that few know about is the blue pools of Atzala, a natural water park made up of 7 pools, which are distinguished by their turquoise blue waters. You can also do other activities like zip-lining and walking on hanging bridges.

The Valley of Stacked Stones is one of the most beautiful places in all of Puebla; it is characterized by rock formations with unique shapes that will ignite your imagination. You can camp here, enjoy extreme sports, family activities, and visit the zoo.

The Museum of Goblins is famous for its collection of these mythical beings. You can learn about their stories, culture, characteristics, their relationship with people, and their mischief, as well as see evidence of their existence. Night walks and artisan shopping are also available.

Within the town are the haciendas Santa María Regla, San Miguel Regla, San Juan Hueyapan, and San Antonio Regla, where you can learn about their important history in the area, admire their architecture, and enjoy the surrounding landscapes.

2. Tequila

In the state of Jalisco is Tequila, the birthplace of the alcoholic beverage of the same name, known worldwide.

You definitely cannot leave Tequila without going to "Cantaritos El Güero," famous for their huge size of up to 20 liters to share with your family and friends. You can enjoy a party accompanied by music and dancing.

To learn more about this famous drink, you can visit the National Tequila Museum. It has 5 rooms where you can discover its history, production process, old tools, and bottles used for its making. It also features temporary exhibitions of Mexican artists and an auditorium.

An experience you must live is visiting one or several distilleries to learn about their preparation processes, facilities, and the different varieties each offers. You can also take photos in their agave fields and participate in tastings.

In the state of Quintana Roo lies this magical town, a unique place in the world known for its lagoon of seven colors and cenotes that invite you to live a one-of-a-kind experience.

In the lagoon of seven colors, you can kayak, take boat or motorboat tours that take you to discover the Black Cenote, Bird Island, and Pirate Channel.

To learn some history about the place, you can visit the Fort of San Felipe, built to protect the area from pirates in the 18th century. Inside is a museum exhibiting the Caste War and the history of the Caribbean Pirates.

At the Uchben Kah Ecotourism Park, you can enjoy sports activities like hiking, biking, diving, swimming, and a kayak tour that takes you to the lagoon. You will observe wildlife including birds, deer, tapirs, and crocodiles.
